World Cup finals:
The Argentina team has held the record for playing in four World Cup finals. In 1930, they got the opportunity to play their first World Cup final but lost the match to Uruguay. The match statistics reveal that though the team participated in four final matches, they only won two of the four matches. In 1978, they played in the World Cup Final for the second time, against strong rivals Netherlands. Inspite of the enthusiasm and good on-field performance by both the teams, the match finally went in favor of Argentina by 3-1.
June 1978 Mario Kempes goes nuts after scoring during the 1978 World Cup Final between Argentina and Holland, held on June 25, 1978 at the River Plate Stadium, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Argentina won 3-1 after extra-time.
The third final match against Germany was equally exciting. Both the teams played exceptionally well and the Argentinean team emerged as winners with a final score of 3-2.
The same enthusiasm was seen by the team during their 1990 match. The Argentina team played well, however due to a contraversial penalty they lost the match to Germany by 1-0.
